Getting to know...SHREDD

As we continue our build-up to Saturday 16th's triple-header of Bad Hombres, Shredd and Sobriety, we find out what floats Shredd's musical boat...

Describe your sound in five words...

"Frenzy of Fuzz and Feedback"

How important is the Glasgow scene to the band?
"It’s massive, no doubt. There are a lot of great young bands from all over Scotland, Glasgow is just the central hub and that’s down to the number of venues and promoters that are willing to take a chance on the bands, we’re lucky enough to have loads of them. It’s important to have such amazing people and bands around you all the time, it helps you develop and grow. Everyone supports everyone, everyone is friends and everyone wants to see everyone else doing well – it's a positive place to be."
Biggest influence?
"As a collective in terms of music it’d probably be Thee Oh Sees."
Top 3 bands?
Chris – Black Sabbath;
Mark – The Twilight Sad;
Calum– Queens of the Stone Age.
T In The Park or TRNSMT?
"T is a classic, but getting to sleep in your own bed after a festival is also nice – sitting firmly on the fence on this one!"
Best gig you've been to?
"We went to Field Day 2017 together with a bunch of our mates, we saw loads of amazing bands (Thee Oh Sees, King Gizzard, Run The Jewels) but Whitney was a particular highlight. We were all absolutely fucked and told each other we loved one another a million times."

"Black Sabbath"
First album you bought?
"Mark says "All Killer No Filler" by Sum 41 was his first which is probably the coolest out of the three of us so let’s go with that!"
Pete or Carl?
"Carl"
Favourite lyric?
"Pretty sure Harv’s favourite lyric of all time is just ‘WOO’ given that it features in 99% of our songs..."
Favourite venue...?
"St Luke’s is a favourite of the ones we’ve played, Barras is an obvious one for a Glasgow band!"
Dream collaboration...?
"King Gizzard + Thee Oh Sees, easy!"
Irn Bru: old or new?
"Old"
Favourite festival?
"Primavera"
Any non-musical inspirations?
"General life, we like to get our anger out in songs"
Favourite album...?
Mark: Radiohead - Hail to the Thief.
Calum: Idlewild - Scottish Fiction.
Chris: Ty Segall - Manipulator.
Morrissey or Marr?
"Marr"
Top 5 new acts...?
"Too many to mention really, there’s so many good bands coming out of Scotland at the moment. Some bands we’ve seen and played with recently who we love are Fabric Bear, Beta Waves, Gallus and Snash (all from Scotland). Have to give a massive shout out to our friends The Dreads from Belfast as well, a beautiful group of people."
